HRS was founded by award-winning Registered Dietitian and Health Writer Harriet Rose Smith, B.Sc (Hons), RD. 
 
We are a UK-based nutrition communications agency. We produce evidence-based content and deliver impactful campaigns for food, nutrition, and medical nutrition brands globally. Harriet is supported by a small team of internationally-recognised Registered Dietitians and Nutritionists who are leading experts in their respective fields. 
 

The HRS team deliver award-winning nutrition writing, health writing and PR and media services to global food, nutrition and medical nutrition brands.  

HARRIET SMITH, FOUNDER, AWARD-WINNING REGISTERED DIETITIAN, HEALTH WRITER 

Harriet was awarded a first-class Bachelor of Science (with Honours) degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from King's College London, and she is registered with the British Dietetic Association (BDA) and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). 
 
As an industry-leading health and nutrition writer, Harriet has over six years of experience writing for consumers, industry and the national media. 
 
She was a columnist for the Complete Nutrition (CN) Magazine, the UK's leading clinical, medical and health nutrition publication for 13,000 healthcare professionals, and the magazine awarded her the 'Writer of the Year' award in 2018. 
 
Harriet prides herself on producing high-quality written materials, securing media coverage and ensuring that her client's messages are scientifically accurate.

MEET THE TEAM 

ANNE WRIGHT 
 
Anne is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist with over 25 years of international experience. 
 
She has worked in a variety of clinical roles and in academia, as lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics. 
 
She has written for many publications and has worked with international medical companies and public-facing apps. 
 
Anne works as a freelance Dietitian working with individuals and organisations. 
 
She has a special interest in nutrition education and combines her skill sets to produce high-quality written content for HRS Communications. 
ANNINA WHIPP 
 
Annina is a Registered Dietitian and Health Writer with clinical experience in both adult and paediatric settings. 
 
She specialises in gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes and weight management, and is driven by translating nutritional science to support people to achieve their specific health goals. 
 
Annina has worked with global companies providing coaching for personalised nutrition platforms and has written various evidence-based and accessible resources for patients. 
 
In her spare time, you’ll find her swimming in the sea. 
PENNY SMITH  
 
Penny is a Marketing and Communications Consultant specialising in science and healthcare communications. 
 
She has over 15 years' experience working in a variety of communications roles, both agency and in-house, and is a media relations specialist. 
 
As Publicity Manager at Wiley, (a global academic publisher), she delivered communications programmes generating global media coverage for research content from Wiley’s portfolio of journals. 
 
She produced Wiley Science Talks (educational webinars for journalists) and created bespoke PR campaigns for Wiley’s key society partners including the American Cancer Society, British Pharmacological Society and the American College of Rheumatology. 
 
Prior to this, she worked for two leading London healthcare PR agencies where she developed and implemented communication programmes on behalf of pharmaceutical clients and medical charities. 
 
She is a qualified Home Economist with a special interest in nutrition and health. 
Dr. KATHRYN O'SULLIVAN 
 
Kathryn is a Nutrition Scientist and Registered Dietitian, specialising in public health communications. 
 
She holds a B.Sc. in Human Nutrition and a Ph.D in clinical medicine from Trinity College Dublin, and has over 25 years of experience working in the food industry and academia. 
 
With 10 years international experience working for the Kellogg Company throughout Europe and the Middle East markets, Kathryn now works as an independent nutrition consultant providing expertise in nutrition science, marketing, communications and regulatory affairs to international food companies. 
 
She occasionally lectures at universities and health conferences, and has published extensively in peer reviewed journals, healthcare and consumer press. 
 
Kathryn has a special interest in EFSA Nutrition and Health claims. 
 
In her spare time, she works as a ceramicist. 
JOHANNA ADENRELE 
 
Johanna is a final-year dietetics student, expecting to graduate in the summer of 2021. 
 
With a special interest in eating behaviour and food psychology, she draws on her marketing and communications experience to create engaging and holistic content. 
 
Whether it be delivering public health programmes or developing a corporate wellbeing series for BT, Johanna aims to improve people’s lives through good food and sustainable change. 
 
Johanna is an Assistant Account Executive for HRS Communications. 
BAHEE VAN DE BOR 
 
Bahee is an HCPC Registered Paediatric Dietitian. 
 
She has extensive clinical experience within the areas of surgery, gastroenterology (including the infant microbiome and immunity), nephrology, inborn errors of metabolism and ketogenic diets. 
 
She has over 12 years of experience working as a paediatric dietitian at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. 
 
Bahee now works as a freelance Consultant Paediatric Dietitian on Harley Street. 
 
She has contributed towards 8 pieces of clinical research/guidelines whilst at GOSH and is also a media spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association. 
HEATHER DEERING 
 
Heather is a Registered Associate Nutritionist (ANutr) and Corporate Health and Wellbeing Practitioner. 
 
She is passionate about providing accessible and evidence-based information about nutrition, helping people to develop healthy relationships with food, as well as busting nutrition and diet myths. 
 
Heather specialises in producing easy-to-understand, evidence-based blog posts, articles and social media copy for HRS Communications. 
SHELLEY HARVEY 
 
Shelley is a freelance Nutritionist, specialising in food and nutrition writing, recipe development and nutrition coaching. 
 
She holds a BSc in Applied Food and Nutrition and an MSc in Nutrition and Behaviour from Bournemouth University. 
 
Shelley is passionate about making nutrition science simple, accessible and fun through her holistic approach to health and love of nutritious, tasty food.  
 
Alongside the nutrition coaching services she provides, she has worked with a variety of companies creating evidence-based medical articles, nutrition blogs, social media content and nutritionally balanced recipes. 
 
In her spare time, you’ll find her creating art or foraging for wild foods! 
REBECCA MCMANAMON 
 
Rebecca is a Consultant Dietitian who has an expert interest in conditions that increase the risk of malnutrition such as neurological or gastrointestinal conditions and cancer. 
 
Rebecca also specialises in chronic conditions such as Type 2 Diabetes, cardiovascular disease, COPD and HIV. 
 
She works with infants to centenarians, and brings her range of experience and skills to writing and editing for HRS to ensure high quality articles are produced. 
 
She is also a media spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association and has commented in national and international press, radio and on TV. 
ESTHER KING 
 
Esther is an HCPC Registered Dietitian with clinical experience. 
 
Esther graduated from King’s College London before working in the NHS as an Acute Dietitian. 
 
Esther works for HRS as a Registered Dietitian and Account Manager, helping to manage HRS client relations and creating evidence based content such as fact sheets and social media copy. 
 
In her spare time Esther loves to run and swim in the sea!  
CLARE THORNTON-WOOD 
 
Clare is a registered dietitian currently working in Paediatrics but with previous clinical experience in adults.  
 
Clare has experience in many clinical areas including feeding and eating disorders, allergy, diabetes (paediatric and adult) and home enteral feeding. 
 
Alongside her clinical work, Clare works with brands on product development, ACBS studies and appears frequently in the press, radio and TV. Clare is a media spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association and was awarded Spokesperson of the Year in 2019. 
 
Clare also has a PhD in Botany, Engineering and Music and when not working, can be found playing her oboe in orchestras and cooking. She enjoys tending to her vegetable garden and bees in her quest for self-sufficiency. 
ROSIE LONG 
 
Rosie is a Registered Associate Nutritionist (ANutr) with 6 years of experience working in nutrition communications. 
 
After obtaining her Nutrition BSc (Hons) degree from Bournemouth University in 2015, Rosie has gained vast experience of the food industry through a variety of roles both in-house at Nestlé & across a number of food and drink clients in a Global PR agency. 
 
She now works as a nutrition consultant supporting brands and businesses with nutrition communications through insight-led strategy development and evidence-based content creation.  
 
Rosie is passionate about making complex nutrition information accessible and compelling for both consumers and fellow health professionals. 
CHARLIE DEXTER 
 
Charlie Dexter looks after our office admin and has worked as a PA/EA/VA for over 10+ years. In that time she has experienced a vast variety of roles, industries, small and large corporations as well as private clients. 
 
Charlie prides herself on organisation, project management, developing relationships and has a very key eye to detail. 
 
Her biggest passion is helping people develop their mindset, personal growth and health and wellness; 
 
‘Believing in yourself is the first secret to success’. 
DONIA HILAL 
 
Donia started her career as a freelance nutritionist, later she joined Nestle as their Market Nutritionist to help support their healthier product range, and support marketing communication for their vast product range. 
 
 
Later, she joined Holland & Barrett's team to support their regulatory compliance function and help build a robust regulatory framework in relation to food supplement and botanical claims. 
 
Donia also regularly supports NPD functions on innovating healthier products with a nutritional edge. 
 
Donia has over 6 years of experience as a Nutritionist and also works with clients on a one to one basis to support their goals which include weight loss, prenatal and postnatal nutrition and children’s health.
